Parent (Guardian) Teacher Association Group Pages

Welcome!

We are the Valley View Elementary Parent (Guardian) Teacher Association, better known as the VVE PTA. Some words might come to mind when you hear "PTA." For instance, "time consuming, overwhelming, political" or maybe even "dull". We board members collected our thoughts and came up with these wards: "rewarding, informative, a relationship builder" and, most of all, "fun".

You, as a parent or guardian, will play an invaluable part in your child's success. Whether or not parental involvement can improve student outcomes is no longer in question. It has been proven time and time again to result in higher grades, higher test scores, and higher graduation rates, an increase in self-esteem, and a decrease in drug use and violence. Your involvement is very important, both in the school and outside of the school, and will prove to be beneficial now as well as in the future.

Wondering where to start? PTA meetings are a forum for parents, teachers, and school administrators to discuss your child's success. You'll learn about the educational theories being used to teach within the school and you'll be among the first to know about plans to improve our school. Or, maybe meetings aren't your thing. Maybe you're more of a hands-on person. Don't shy away! There are plenty of things you can do to help. The PTA hosts several events such as classroom parties, family movie nights, school dances, holiday craft day, the very popular school carnival, and many other fun activities that we can always use your help with.

I'd like to encourage you to help Valley View Elementary maintain its Minnesota School of Excellence designtion by contacting us to volunteer, even if it's just for two hours each year.

Make the decision to become involved in your child's education. You won't regret it.

Thank you,
The VVE Parent (Guardian) Teacher Association
